We just published a study led by Chris Tanner describing how Rac2 GTPase function in macrophages promotes the ability of these cells to inhibit extracellular hyphal growth of A. fumigatus in Infection and Immunity! Dr. Rosowski's NIH R35/MIRA grant application "Deciphering macrophage versus neutrophil signaling and effector functions in immune responses in vivo" has officially been funded! Very excited to broaden our research perspective to investigate the differences between how macrophages and neutrophils respond to a wide variety of insults.

Dr. Savini Thrikawala's study on how cyclooxygenase production of PGE2 promotes the ability of macrophages and neutrophils to control Aspergillus fumigatus hyphal growth is now out in PLoS Pathogens! Congrats to Savini and thanks to Dr. Nancy Keller and Mengyao Niu for collaborating with us.
